Permanent Disk Storage
The AML mass storage sun microsystems server called aml has
3 striped logical disk filesystems ( /aml.a, /aml.b, and /aml.c ) each with 66 GBytes of disk space.
These are backed up regularly.
Persons with access to aml can ask for disk space on these filesystems.

Temporary Disk Storage
Policy:
The disks labeled /"machine".tmpa are shared scratch space.
Files in /"machine".tmpa which are more than 25 days old
(not changed, modified, or created) are automatically removed.
/"machine".tmpa is not backed up.
For system reasons files may be removed without notice at
anytime, though users will be warned if possible.
Usage:
These disks are usually mounted only on the "machine" to which they are attached.
These disks are world writable. You should create a directory
with your name. Files in this directory will be writable only
by you.

/stratum.tmpa has 35.5 Gbytes

/simulacrum.tmpa has 33.5 Gbytes
to be used exclusively for real time
applications and video on simulacrum.
