Description
Iris Explorer was developed by SGI and is now maintained by NAG.
It is a Visual Programming language for all aspects of
scientific visualization.

Instructions for Use
We suggest you use the SGI version of IRIS Explorer since it is a more recent version
and a complete installation.
- On the SGIs:
Iris Explorer is located in the directory /opt/NAG/iesg640na/explorer
To run:

source /opt/NAG/iesg640na/explorer/sample.cshrc
-
explorer
You can copy the file sample.cshrc to your home directory as ~/.explorer.cshrc.sgi
and source this file instead.
You might also want to copy the file /opt/NAG/iesg640na/explorer/sample.explorerrc
to your home directory as ~/.explorerrc .
This file can be then updated to suit your needs.
- On the SUNs:
Iris Explorer is located in the directory /opt/NAG/iesol35nb/explorer
To run:

First time: copy /opt/NAG/iesol35nb/explorer/sample.cshrc to
~/.explorer.cshrc.sun
Edit this file:
change the line
setenv EXPLORERHOME /usr/explorer
to
setenv EXPLORERHOME /opt/NAG/iesol35nb/explorer

source ~/.explorer.cshrc.sun

- On each Module:

Clicking the square button in the upper-right on any module activates it's options editor window.
There is a help option in the menu of this window.

- When explorer is running:
In the window named "Librarian on 'yourmachine'", look for the maps
column. Drag anyone of the modules listed under maps to the
Window "Map Editor". A network of modules will appear in the
window and an image window will appear with the visualization.
