Kähler-Ricci flow

Speaker: Valentino Tosatti, New York University

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302

Date: Friday, February 9, 2024, 1 p.m.

Synopsis:

I will give an overview of what happens when you run Ricci flow on a compact complex manifold with the initial metric which is Kähler.  The flow preserves the Kähler condition, which allows one to reduce the flow to a scalar fully nonlinear 2nd order parabolic PDE. I will show how one can compute the maximal existence time of the flow, and discuss the two outstanding questions: understanding the formation of finite-time singularities and how to flow past them, and what happens to immortal solutions as time goes to infinity.
