Convexity Seminar
The limit shape of convex hull peeling
Speaker: Charles Smart, Yale University
Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302
Date: Tuesday, April 21, 2026, 11 a.m.
Synopsis:
If we peel a sufficiently dense and random point cloud by iteratively removing the points on its convex hull, then the resulting flow looks like motion by a power of Gaussian curvature. I will discuss an older result along these lined by myself and Jeff Calder and a new result by my student Nhung Pham.
