A Cocompactness Theorem for Convergence Groups

Speaker: Misha Kapovich, UC Davis

Synopsis:

It is a classical result in the theory of Kleinian groups that a Kleinian group all whose limit points are conical, acts cocompactly on its domain of discontinuity. It was conjectured by Tukia in 1998 and Haissinsky in 2012 that the same holds for convergence groups. In the talk I will sketch a proof of this conjecture for torsion-free groups. This is a joint work with Bernhard Leeb.
