Modeling and Simulation Group Meeting
Predicting phase transitions in nonequilibrium systems
Speaker: Ruben Zakine, CIMS
Location: TBA
Date: Thursday, April 22, 2021, 12:30 p.m.
Synopsis:
In this seminar, I will show how large deviation theory allows us to infer the phase diagrams of some nonequilibrium systems through an optimization problem that can be solved by efficient numerical methods. As illustrations of the approach, I will calculate the phase diagram of two models: a generic non-equilibrium system that has drawn the attention of physicists in recent years, and a system of interacting particles that can move, reproduce, and die.
