Laundry Machine Effect : the intermediate powers

Speaker: Guillaume Dubach

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 805

Date: Thursday, March 22, 2018, 11 a.m.

Synopsis:

We will consider a class of beta ensembles in the complex plane — namely, those such that $\beta=2$ , with any radial potential — and  see how every power map (and not only the high powers) yields a decomposition of the point process in independent blocs. Particular cases include eigenvalues of Haar-distributed unitary matrices (CUE), and those of the complex Ginibre ensemble.

Notes:

No prior knowledge of random matrix theory required.
