Analysis Seminar

Topics in the Time-Frequency Analysis

Speaker: Victor Lie, Princeton University

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302

Date: Thursday, March 29, 2012, 11 a.m.

Synopsis:

This talk will be structured as follows: we start by discussing several facts about the history and evolution of the time-frequency area (Fourier Series, Calderon-Zygmund theory, wave-packet theory) and then refer to the general approach/tools for solving a time-frequency problem. Next we present two fundamental topics in this field: the pointwise convergence of the Fourier Series and the boundedness of the Bilinear Hilbert transform. Further we address several aspects of our work including the problem of the boundedness of the Bilinear Hilbert transform on smooth curves and the question regarding the boundedness of the Polynomial Carleson operator.
