Alignment in Cucker-Smale systems with degenerate communication
Speaker: Roman SHVYDKOY, University of Illinois at Chicago
Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302
Date: Thursday, April 4, 2019, 11 a.m.
Synopsis:
In this talk we discuss basic alignment mechanisms in dynamical systems of Cucker-Smale type. Such systems describe collective behavior of agents, or swarming, in a variety of contexts including biological, social, and technological. When the communication kernel between agents is degenerate proving alignment stumbles upon a lack of coercivity in the classical energy equation. We will present several ways to circumvent this difficulty in several situations including smooth, singular and topological communications.
