Synopsis:

In 1991 J.-M. Delort proved the existence of a weak solution for the incompressible 2D Euler equations with so-called vortex sheet initial data of distinguished sign. More precisely, for initial vorticities whose singular part is a bounded nonnegative Radon measure. A key element of the proof is a non-concentration condition for vorticity. This same condition has been used to establish the vanishing viscosity limit in bounded domain flow and, recently, to prove the absence of anomalous (energy) dissipation. In this talk, we will discuss the role of this condition in each of these results.
