Geometric Analysis and Topology Seminar
The Hodge Theory of Character Varieties
Speaker: Mark Andrea de Cataldo, Stony Brook University
Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1013
Date: Friday, February 27, 2009, 1 p.m.
Synopsis:
After a brief review of the statement of the decomposition theorem, and a discussion of B.C. Ngo's support theorem, I will discuss a geometric description of the perverse filtration on the cohomology of algebraic varieties via the Lefschetz hyperplane theorem (joint with L. Migliorini) and I will discuss work in progress concerning the mixed Hodge theory of character varieties (joint work in progress with T. Hausel and L. Migliorini).
