Recent progress with fully nonlinear elliptic PDEs

Synopsis:

We discuss regularity and rigidity for several PDEs without uniform ellipticity, including the sigma-2 equation and the special Lagrangian equation.  A few questions were unclear for the past decade, and we survey ideas which helped settle these issues in joint works with Bhattacharya, Chen, Mooney, and Yuan.
