Geometric Analysis and Topology Seminar
Geometric Functional Inequalities: old and new
Speaker: Galyna Livshts, Georgia Tech
Location: Warren Weaver Hall 512
Date: Friday, February 16, 2024, 11 a.m.
Synopsis:
There is a collection of beautiful functional inequalities which have geometric consequences, and all together constitute various convexity phenomena. We will explore some of them and their connections, old and new, generalizations and interesting (and potentially useful) extensions. We hope to have time to discuss several methods which allow to harness these phenomena. This talk is based on some of novel things in the topics course I taught last semester, which will become parts of joint papers with Cordero-Erausquin and Rotem, and Barthe, Cordero-Erausquin and Ivanisvili. A part of this talk is inspired by classical works of Bobkov and Ledoux.
