Nilpotent Actions and Curvature Lower Bounds

Synopsis:

We discuss the structure of fundamental groups of closed manifolds with lower curvature bounds. In particular, we focus on the Fukaya–Yamaguchi Almost Abelian Conjecture and provide a counterexample under a nonnegative Ricci curvature assumption. This is joint work with A. Naber and D. Semola.
