Approximation by Polynomials with Integer Coefficients

Synopsis:

This talk will introduce the classical (but not widely known) theory of approximation by polynomials with integer coefficients and some recent results in this theory based on methods of analog-to-digital conversion. Time permitting, we will talk about how these results lead to a universal approximation theorem for feedforward neural networks with 1-bit coefficients.
