Ribbon Graphs and Riemann Surfaces – A Combinatorial View

Synopsis:

Graphs are a well-known object in the study of combinatorics. In this talk, we will introduce a specific class of graphs, ribbon graphs, to construct compact Riemann surfaces. Also, we will discuss how ribbon graphs provide us a combinatorial view on the moduli spaces.
