Mathematics Colloquium
Nonlocality in Fluids
Speaker: Peter Constantin, Princeton University
Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302
Date: Monday, December 5, 2016, 3:45 p.m.
Synopsis:
I will discuss examples in which nonlocality -- action at a distance -- is a main factor in incompressible fluid equations. I will describe in some detail three such instances: in the Navier-Stokes Equations, in thin film electro-convection equations and in surface quasigeostrophic equations.
