Evolutionary Advantage of Cell Size Control

Synopsis:

Abstract: I establish a path integral perspective on bacterial populations in terms of single-cell lineages, obtaining exact analytical results and approximations that capture the population growth rate in diverse mortality landscapes. This approach connects directly with experimental data and addresses an open question of how cell size control strategies are selected for and maintained in nature.
