Thresholds and the Kahn-Kalai conjecture

Speaker: Chen Li, CIMS

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 202

Date: Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 12:30 p.m.

Synopsis:

After briefly introducing the threshold phenomena (a notion of phase transition) in random discrete structures, we will present a proof of the Park-Pham Theorem (previously known as the Kahn-Kalai conjecture) concerning the driving mechanism behind thresholds. We will assume no background knowledge of any kind.
