Synopsis:
Locally conformally Kähler manifolds are complex manifolds admitting a Kähler cover on which the deck group acts by holomorphic homotheties. Typical examples are the Hopf manifolds. We shall be interested in the case when the Kähler form of this cover has global potential. Such compact manifolds can be holomorphically embedded into Hopf manifolds. I shall describe the geometry of these manifolds and focus on some recent results (joint work with M. Verbitsky), especially on the existence of Hopf surfaces in all compact LCK manifolds with potential.
