Existence of Twisted Symmetric Differentials and the Geometry of Projective Subvarieties

Synopsis:

I will discuss the relation between sections of the m-th symmetric power of the twisted cotangent bundle Ω_X(1) on a projective subvariety X of low codimension and the equations defining X. In particular, I will give an explicit description of these sections in terms of the quadrics defining X when X is a complete intersection of low codimension.
