Analysis Seminar

General Relativity at the Subatomic Scale

Speaker: Shadi Tahvildar-Zadeh, Rutgers Univ.

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302

Date: Thursday, January 25, 2018, 11 a.m.

Synopsis:

The idea that General Relativity (GR) may have something to say about the subatomic world is about as old as GR itself, but very few physicists have taken it seriously, and little is known rigorously about it. In this talk I use the problem of the "general-relativistic Dirac spectrum of Hydrogen"  to convey the conceptual and technical issues one is up against, and survey recent results obtained  in collaboration with my colleague Michael Kiessling and by some of our students and postdocs.
