Stability Analysis of the Relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell System

We consider the Relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell equation depicting plasma confined in a general axisymmetric spatial domain with perfect conducting boundary which reflects particles specularly, assuming axisymmetry in the problem. We prove a sharp criterion of spectral stability for a large family of equilibria, and provide several explicit families of stable/unstable equilibria using this criterion. Moreover, we consider the Vlasov-Poisson equation and construct a family of solutions with blow-up type behavior.
