Synopsis:
We discuss recent progress in the derivation of wave kinetic equations in wave turbulence theory, starting from different dispersive models. In the semilinear case (such as cubic NLS) this can be done in the almost optimal regime (i.e. as long as the solution to the kinetic equation exists); in the quasilinear case (such as gravity water wave) the question is still very challenging, and we report on some recent partial progress.
This is joint work with Zaher Hani, Alexandru Ionescu and Fabio Pusateri.
