Atmosphere Ocean Science Colloquium
Change and variability of atmospheric moisture transport from past to future
Speaker: Juan Lora, Yale
Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302
Date: Wednesday, November 2, 2022, 3:30 p.m.
Synopsis:
Hydroclimate projections for the future remain uncertain in various mid-latitude regions of the world, like western North America, for which reconstructions of past climates also tell seemingly diverging stories. I will discuss investigations of atmospheric moisture transport, and its connection to regional precipitation, as discerned from simulations of past and future climates. I will discuss these with a view toward better understanding the mechanisms of changes, underlying synoptic processes and their relationship to variability, and also the relevance of past hydroclimates to future anthropogenic climate change.
