Synopsis:
A compact Kähler manifold is extremal if it admits a Kähler metric such that the gradient of the scalar curvature is a holomorphic vector field. We revisit work originating with Arezzo and Pacard on the invariance of extremal Kähler manifolds under blowups. Our approach is variational methods, and partially extends to resolutions of singularities. This is joint work with S. Boucksom and A. Trusiani.
