Isoperimetric Problem and Curvature Bounds
Speaker: Gioacchino Antonelli, New York University
Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302
Date: Friday, November 17, 2023, 1 p.m.
Synopsis:
The isoperimetric problem involves finding, among sets of a given volume, those that, if any, possess the minimum perimeter. In this presentation, I will be guided by the following question: How does a bound on the curvature of a space impact its isoperimetric structure? After reviewing key concepts related to curvature in both smooth and nonsmooth settings, I will present some classical and recent results in the field. The talk will be tailored to an introductory level.
