Mathematics Colloquium
Stability Theorems for Geometric Variational Problems
Speaker: Francesco Maggi, ICTP, Trieste
Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302

Synopsis:
We review a series of stability results obtained in recent years, together with some possible applications and open problems. The kind of stability theorem that we shall discuss typically consists in the quantitative geometric description of sets/functions in terms of the size of a control parameter, or deficit, which either measures the energy gap from global minimality, or the deviation from being a critical point in a given geometric variational problem.
