Projection methods for quasi-static hypo-elastoplasticity

Synopsis:

We explore an analogy between the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and the equations describing the quasi-static limit of a hypo-elastoplastic solid. Through this analogy, we develop efficient projection algorithms for quasi-static hypo-elastoplasticity, and use them to study the dynamics of shear banding in three-dimensional amorphous materials.
