Examples of log-correlated fields

Speaker: Krishnan Mody, CIMS

Synopsis:

Log-correlated fields make an appearance in a number of well studied probabilistic models, and even in analytic number theory. In this talk, I will present a few examples of models where one can see a log-correlated field in the appropriate limit. Time permitting, I will describe how one can study the maximum of the branching random walk.
