Entropic repulsion in SOS and Ising

Speaker: Eyal Lubetzky, NYU Courant

Location: Warren Weaver Hall 1302

Date: Friday, December 2, 2022, 1:15 p.m.

Synopsis:

Entropic repulsion is regarded as a key feature of the physics of random surfaces. We will review the picture in the (2+1)D Solid-On-Solid model, which approximates the interface in the low temperature 3D Ising model, and discuss recent progress in understanding it as well as in confirming its predictions in 3D Ising.
