Mathematical Finance & Financial Data Science Seminar
Leveraging “Nowcasting frameworks” across a dynamic recovery within fundamental research
Speaker: Dan Duggan, Vice President · Global Investment Research Goldman Sachs
Location: Online Zoom access provided to registrants
Date: Tuesday, October 19, 2021, 5:30 p.m.
Massive shifts within an uneven pandemic recovery continue to upend traditionally stable consumer and business trends. We identify “fundamental frameworks” than span across text-driven, digital and geo-spatial dimensions. These, combined with alternative data, help quantify effects as they relate to company positioning within a rapidly evolving environment.
Dan Duggan, Vice President, leads the GS Data Works project within GIR. Dan's role focuses on incorporating alternative data within equity and macro research to aid in identifying investment opportunities. He works across sectors to marry fundamental analysis with insights from data-driven methods and unique datasets.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 2015, Dan was a Senior Fellow at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, and previously held a role as a Distinguished Researcher at Fermi National Laboratory. Dan earned a B.S. in Physics and B.A. degrees in Mathematics and French from Indiana University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Experimental High Energy Particle Physics from Florida State University.
